Begin your day in the Historic Downtown area of Kittery. This quaint neighborhood features a single tree lined street with charming shops and cozy eateries. A must-visit is Lil’s Cafe, a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Try their Maple Crullers - light, airy, and utterly delicious - while sipping on some freshly brewed coffee. With outdoor seating available, you can relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance of the neighborhood.

2. Enjoy a Scenic Walk in Fort Foster Park
After a satisfying coffee and pastry, drive over to Fort Foster Park. The drive to the park brings you along a winding, coastal road that displays the beautiful colonial architecture of Kittery and provides glimpses of the beautiful bays and coves. Fort Foster Park is a beautiful state park right on the coast of Kittery. There is a $25 entrance fee for each car but I find this keeps the summer crowds away and helps maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
One of the park's highlights is the Ocean Trail, it’s about a mile total and is an easy walk. As you stroll, you’ll encounter small beaches, picnic tables ideal for a packed lunch, and scenic benches to take in the view. The natural beauty of the trail, combined with the soothing sounds of the ocean, makes for a truly relaxing experience. I love to hike out to the end of the trail and on the way back stop at one of the beaches and dip my toes in the water, it’s incredibly refreshing.

3. Grab Lunch With a View
Conclude your Kittery adventure with a beautiful lunch at Pepperrell Cove. Pepperrell Cove offers several dining options, each with its own appeal. For a more formal option, visit Bistro 1828, where you can enjoy stunning views of the cove and sailboats from the third floor. Try the Maine Mussels, they are rich and flavorful, you won’t be disappointed.
If you prefer a more casual setting, Frisbee’s Wharf provides a lively outdoor dining experience with seafood, burgers, and drinks. Enjoy a ground-level view of the beautiful cove while you dine. Reservations are encouraged for both places but my husband and I arrived around 2:00 and were promptly seated.
